Language so beautiful Philistines scurry from the first page, is that so much to ask? Look elsewhere for heaving breasts, blasting lasers and a fourth-grade reading level. I’ll give my readers sex and violence and other visceral entertainments but only as they satisfy my own needs for cerebral titillation. You may find breasts and battles within and enjoy my writing strictly for those thrills but know that always lurking beneath is the terrible threat of subtle thought, allusive resonance and more layers than a philosopher’s parfait. To get through the whipped cream at top will require more than an elementary effort. To get to all the juicy bits may tax a college education. You may want to read another book before returning for a deeper taste of my own. If you are my kind of reader, you have done that so often with other writers that the thought of doing it with me already has you excited.
I wanted to write a classic regular folks would actually read. I wanted to write an adventure academics would find resonant with meaning. You tell me how well I did.
